DISNEY CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE PARK

Turning a long list of treats into part of the park experience.

With limited-time food offerings spread throughout Disneyland Resort, guests needed a simple way to discover what was available—and where to find it.

Working with the Disney Parks marketing and food & beverage teams, I designed a playful take-along guide organized around the way guests move through the parks. Clear navigation by park, area, and restaurant made seasonal offerings easy to find, while colorful Pixar-inspired details turned a practical resource into part of the festival experience.

Designing for Discovery

The guide needed to hold a large amount of information without feeling like a directory.

I developed a clear hierarchy that let guests move from park → area → restaurant → menu item, making the guide easy to scan while walking through the parks.

Character artwork became another layer of navigation. Guests could flip through colorful Pixar worlds, quickly understand where they were in the guide, and discover food inspired by films they already loved.

A checklist turned the guide from a one-time reference into something guests could interact with throughout Pixar Fest—marking off what they tried and returning to discover more.

Friendship Became the Visual System

Pixar Fest celebrated friendship, so I built the guide around pairs of characters and the relationships between them.

Each spread brings two Pixar friends together through split fields of color, bold character artwork, and playful scrapbook-inspired details. The system gave every film its own personality while keeping the full guide visually connected.

The result balanced two needs: the clarity of a functional park guide and the energy of a Pixar keepsake.

A format designed to live beyond one festival.

The guide transformed a practical list of seasonal offerings into something guests could explore, use, and keep throughout their visit.

Its flexible structure also gave the format life beyond Pixar Fest, with the concept later adapted for other seasonal events across Disneyland Resort.

The guide came together through close collaboration between Low & Joe Creative and teams across Disney Parks Marketing and Food & Beverage.
